In May 2012, two major earthquakes occurred in Northern Italy
The first earthquake, of magnitude 6.1, struck the Emilia-Romagna region, about 36 kilometers (22 miles) north of the city of Bologna, on May 20, 2012 at 04:03 local time (02:03 UTC). The epicenter was between Finale Emilia and San Felice sul Panaro.
